Let’s head to the rue du Paradis, in the aptly named restaurant Paradis. We thought the night would be perfect, but instead we got left on the doorstep of heaven.
I started with an oeuf parfait, with a delicious mushroom velouté and diced bacon. The combination of ingredients is great, everything works well except the egg white which is slightly undercook. My friend has the salad with beet and goat cheese, very fresh but a bit simplistic.
Moving on to the mains, the herbs risotto was excellent, this was a great change from the usual mushrooms risotto. Herbs added a very subtle touch to the arborio rice. My friend went with the fatted chicken, chard and pear. Strange combination isn’t it? Well it worked as a charm. Too bad the sauce was not too generous. I was more disappointed by the dessert, a failed re-interpretation of the lemon pie. Mister Grumeau had a chocolate macaron with chocolate ganache, he loved it, but found it slightly heavy, I’m sure a scoop of sorbet would have done the job…
The price tag was not too high, about €30. Unfortunately the fatted chicken was uber-expensive at €26 and the whole bill came up at €80. All in all the meal was excellent despite a few blunders. You should really stop there for lunch where the prix-fixe is a real steal.
