After a good meal at Michel Guerard flagship restaurant in Eugénie Les Bains, it’s very tempting to have a nap in the Prés d’Eugénie. Is it worth the demential price tag though? Be prepared to pay about €200 a night for a one bedroom apartment.
There are several parts in the hotel, we went with the appartments of the Maison Rose, a 44 square meter cocoon with our garden and a view on the pool. The furniture is very traditional, vintage but not really on purpose. No high tech gadgets and no home cinema here, it’s more a rustic luxury place where you feel out of time.
If you don’t stay you should at least stop by at the Loulou’s Lounge Bar which is a real gem. The hors d’oeuvre were amazing and the drinks were more than refreshing. I got the Pompon, a great mix of bas Armagnac, lime and ginger.
Not far the hotel, you should try to visit Pimbo et Geaune, two georgous villages, less touristy than Eugénie, which sometimes gave me the impression that I was in a tourist resort. Don’t think I’m spoiled, we’ve really been impressed by the peaceful gardens of Guerard, behind the hotel. Other than that, Eugénie itself is not very authentic. All in all if you can afford it, you should stay at Michel Guerard hotel in Eugénie, but don’t expect anything spectacular.
