Comptoir Canailles, a newcomer delivers great food

Interesting setting (9e)

2 GrumLe Comptoir Canailles is a good surprise in this part of the 9th arrondissement used to be very weak in terms of restaurants. Until this talented pair of cooks came up, after their experience at Boulud and Bocuse. One more thing, the lunch menu is inexpensive (appetizer-main ou main-dessert for €18). Here’s our review.

Comptoir Canailles keeps prices down, but the food is great

Mushroom soup. It was one of the most flavorful soup I’ve had, the powerful mushroom flavor were rightly balanced with some cream and parmigiano cheese on top.

As a main my friend had the veal tendron, which was extremely tender. His only regret was the extra amount of fat which was slightly overwhelming. I went with the veggie option: a creamy mushroom risotto. The texture was perfect, the arborio rice melted in my mouth and the mushrooms reminded me why I loved fall so much.

You’d better have a sweet tooth for the desserts

French toast (we’re in France after all) with apples and cream. probably the best French toast I’ve had, the toast was soft inside and caramelized crispy outside. Cream and apples brought the extra tangy touch that was needed.

In a nutshell: Comptoir Canailles is right in the Parisian bistronomy vibe, just like Caillebotte and Richer. Here, we loved the extra focus on the decor which makes the Comptoir Canailles the right place for an intimate dinner.

Budget : lunch menu from €18 to €24, dinner prix fixe at €32
