Let’s launch our whole new section today, hotels.
We’re starting with a real crush for La Briqueterie, a great hotel located in Epernay, Champagne. It’s a great occasion to discover this nice region where the famous sparkling wine is made, less than two hours away from Paris.
There’s an indoor swimming pool and a spa nested in the beautiful garden. And for the gourmets, no need to go too far since the Michelin star restaurant at La Briqueterie is worth the trip in itself.
The deluxe room with direct access on the garden is really outstanding, and luckily the weather was kind with us.
We appreciated the few welcoming gifts waiting for us: a bottle of water and a delicious shortbread made by the pastry chef. The bathroom is quite something too, very large with a bathtub and a shower. The dressing was also much appreciated.
There’s not much to complain about, but the price tag is also quite steep at la Briqueterie (€ 350/night for the deluxe with garden access).
Being in Champagne and not going to the hotel bar would have been a serious mistake. The fireplace is impressive and we could easily imagine ourselves in the comfy armchairs, staring at the fire, during winter nights.
But in the middle of summer there’s no one in the bar, the bartender himself was late on taking our order.
We spent most of our time in the swimming pool. It’s indoor, which must me much appreciated in the winter. The pool is not an Olympic size one, but it’s big enough to splash around happily. In the summer, all the windowpanes are open so it’s a real pleasure to go and rest outside after a dip in the pool.
There’s also a hammam, a sauna and a spa at la Briqueterie (curated by Décléor and Carita).
What about the staff? We loved their positive and professional attitude with the guests.
To make it short, we highly recommend you to spend the week-end at La Briqueterie, it’s close to Paris, the bedrooms are luxurious and the swimming pool is a great plus. And obviously, if you’re a champagne fan that’s another reason to pass by here: the hotel is only a few minutes away from Epernay where you’ll be able to visit Moët & Chandon’s cellar. Finally, la Briqueterie is a great romantic week-end idea in Champagne.
Don’t forget to work extra hours the week before you get there, it’s a €200 price tag for the cheapest bedroom, and up to 500€ for the junior suite.
