Brioche con Gelato, it’s like Marie-Antoinette meeting Da Vinci. An unexpected fusion dessert between France and Italy. We recently fell in love with this generous brioche stuffed with italian style gelato. The idea might seem bizarre but the result is great. At first, you get the crunchiness of the toasted brioche, then you discover a refreshing heart of ice cream. A delightful combination of winter and summer.
There are a few places where you can find brioche con gelato in New York, here are our two favorites:
A. B. Biagi: that’s where we first had it. The ice-cream is perfect, creamy and dense enough so that it doesn’t melt too fast. The brioche came from Bien Cuit, an amazing bakery from Brooklyn.

Amorino also makes it. The famous ice cream chain from Italy calls them the “foccacina”, we didn’t find them as good as A.B. Biagi but they’re contender.
