L’Alchimiste is a true heaven for cocktails lovers, probably the best cocktail bar in Bordeaux. The only downside? It’s located in Bordeaux and we live a few hundred kilometers away from there. Located on a tiny street of the city which gets crowded when the night comes, l’Alchimiste appears to have it all. The decor is neat, it feel very cosy and the dim lights make up for an intimate atmoshphere.
I had a cucumber & pink peppercorn gimlet (vodka, St-Germain, lime), very fresh and tangy, perfectly balanced. My friend has the cocktail of the month, the PearL (Mount Gay Silver Rum, lime, pear liquor and green cardamom), which had a great final spicy touch with the cardamom. In the plates, there’s no peanuts, no grissini but real antipasti. We had an excellent foccacia, a little chicken roll, perfectly seasoned, and a portion of pâté. The price tag is not too high, maybe we’re used to the prices in Paris but less than €10 for such great cocktails is a great deal.
If there was one bar to remember in Bordeaux, this is where you should stop by. The duo behind this great bar deserves a heads-up, Clément Sargeni and Romain Bruxer are not newcomers and they’re making a great job there.
